Kolton Pruitt & Brianna Reser
Because Bri’s older sister faced many major medical problems, she did not want to be seen as someone who her parents, family, and friends had to worry about. To keep up this reputation, she went to church, Sunday school, and youth groups faithfully so she could be seen as this “perfect Christian girl.” She had a lot of head knowledge, but she didn’t take it to heart. God interrupted her life when a senior in her sorority was faithful in taking her to a Campus Outreach meeting at Sam Houston State University. This is where her heart was softened, and the gospel of Jesus Christ was clearly revealed. She understands that many women go to college looking to “find themselves,” but her hope is that they hear and respond to the gospel just like she did.
Kolton grew up in Rockwall-Heath, Texas, in a single parent household with an older sister, and brothers both older and younger. He still maintained a close relationship with his father. His family centered much of their life around sports. He grew up in a house that had Christian values and beliefs, but never any true gospel depth. Because of this, Kolton placed much of his identity and worth in his athletic performance. He went on to play basketball at The University of Texas at Dallas alongside his brothers. It was there, that he would encounter the gospel for the first time in his life. Through the influence of Campus Outreach DFW with Josh Thomas, Ryan Taloa, and a community of believers on the basketball team, Kolton began to follow Christ, discovering that his identity was found not in performance but in Christ.
